Jeremy Moyer Ensemble (current project)
Contemporary World Music and Chinese Music
Earthy folk music expression, multicultural sophistication, contemporary musical relevance. Bridging attitudes and genres, this eclectic trio features Jeremy Moyer on Erhu, Gaohu, Kezi Xuan and Yehu (Chinese two-stringed fiddles), Kevin Ramessar on Classical Guitar and Jon Corbin on percussion. The repertoire includes new compositions by Jeremy Moyer, Taiwanese folk songs and occasionally an old jazz standard. Expect to hear ancient and new sounds, stories and rhythms from Asia, from the world and from the heart.
Recent performances have included Maison de la Culture Pointe-Claire and Plateau Mont-Royal in Montreal, Markham Theatre for the Performing Arts and MillRace Festival of Traditional Folk Music in Cambridge Ontario Canada.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Record reported that the JEREMY MOYER ENSEMBLE was one of the "highlights" of Sunday evening at the 2004 MillRace Festival of Traditional Folk Music.

Rarely heard traditional folk songs from Taiwan and the south of China
played on Coconut Shell Fiddle, Pipa Lute, and a variety of percussion
instruments.
The music is arranged and performed in a rustic traditional manner
preserving the style of Moyer's elderly Taiwanese teacher,
Zhang Shi-Dong and the older generation of Chinese folk fiddlers.

"The subtlety of the music and the playing requires several
listenings before one can adjust to the gentle nature of the
sounds, indeed, to the philosophy which breathes life into those
sounds. There is a delicacy here which makes our frenetic lifestyles
seem almost frivolous..."
- Harry Currie, The Record (Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario, Canada).
